**Hyderabad, February 25, 2025** – Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy today announced a bold new Life Sciences policy aimed at transforming Hyderabad into a global leader in the sector. Speaking at the inauguration of BioAsia 2025, a two-day event dedicated to Life Sciences, Mr. Reddy detailed plans to attract significant investment and create half a million new jobs.

The policy focuses on developing cutting-edge areas such as cell and gene therapy, genomics, and precision medicine. Key initiatives include the creation of a “Green Pharmacy City” near Hyderabad, envisioned as one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturing hubs, and a new dry port to improve connectivity. This dry port will link Telangana to a seaport in Andhra Pradesh via dedicated rail and road infrastructure.

Mr. Reddy highlighted the state’s commitment to innovation and R&D, emphasizing its strategic positioning for companies seeking a “China plus one” manufacturing strategy. He reiterated the state’s goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy.

The BioAsia event also saw the presentation of the Genome Valley Excellence Award to Patrick Tan of the National University of Singapore for his contributions to precision medicine and cancer genomics. The inauguration was attended by IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, Governor of Queensland Jeannette Young, and other industry leaders and government officials. The event aims to further establish India’s role in shaping the future of global healthcare.
