Mon Feb 24 18:36:39 UTC 2025: ## AgriGold Victims to Reclaim ₹6,000 Crore in Assets Seized by ED
**Hyderabad, February 25, 2025** – The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has successfully returned assets worth over ₹6,000 crore to victims of the AgriGold ponzi scheme. This marks a significant milestone in the long-running case, which defrauded nearly 19 lakh customers and 32 lakh account holders.
The Hyderabad Zonal Office of the ED completed the restitution process following a court order. Properties, valued at approximately ₹3,339 crore at the time of attachment and now estimated to be worth over ₹6,000 crore, were transferred from the ED to the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID). The CID will then distribute these assets to the victims under the Andhra Pradesh Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments Act, 1999.
The returned assets include over 2,300 properties spanning agricultural land, residential and commercial plots, apartments, and even an amusement park. These properties are located across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, and Odisha.
The ED’s investigation, launched in 2018 following numerous FIRs, uncovered that AgriGold Group operated a fraudulent Collective Investment Scheme, luring investors with promises of high returns and land plots. The group collected approximately ₹6,380 crore from investors through deceptive practices and shell companies. Key figures within the AgriGold group were arrested in 2020, and prosecution complaints were filed in 2021 and 2024.
This restitution represents a substantial recovery for victims and underscores the ED’s commitment to recovering proceeds of crime and returning them to those affected by financial fraud.
