Tue Feb 25 08:18:25 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Calls All-Party Meeting to Protest Lok Sabha Seat Reduction
**Chennai, February 25, 2025** – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has announced an all-party meeting on March 5th to address concerns over the potential reduction of the state’s Lok Sabha seats following a proposed delimitation exercise. The Chief Minister expressed strong opposition to the plan, stating that it would unfairly diminish Tamil Nadu’s representation in the Indian Parliament.
Stalin argued that the delimitation exercise, which could decrease the state’s Lok Sabha seats from 39 to 31, is detrimental to Tamil Nadu’s interests and constitutes a suppression of its voice. He highlighted the state’s consistent efforts in population control and maternal health improvement, emphasizing that the proposed reduction is disproportionate and unjust.
Approximately 40 registered political parties in Tamil Nadu have been invited to the all-party meeting to discuss strategies to counter the delimitation proposal and safeguard the state’s parliamentary representation. The Chief Minister called for unity across political divides to address this crucial issue.
