Tue Feb 25 04:20:00 UTC 2025: **Auburn Remains Top Dog in AP College Basketball Poll After Upsetting Alabama**

**TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) —** Auburn solidified its place atop the AP Top 25 men’s college basketball poll, holding onto the No. 1 ranking for the sixth consecutive week after a dramatic victory over rival Alabama on Saturday. The Tigers (23-2) received 59 of 60 first-place votes, recovering nearly all the support lost after a previous loss to Florida.

The win, a road matchup against the then-No. 2 Crimson Tide, came hours after the NCAA Tournament selection committee named Auburn as its preliminary No. 1 overall seed. Florida jumped to No. 2, taking the remaining first-place vote and surpassing Duke, while Alabama dropped to No. 4. Houston rounded out the top 5.

Texas Tech made the biggest leap into the top 10, climbing three spots to No. 8, their first top-10 appearance in three years. Michigan also had a significant rise, jumping eight spots to No. 12, extending their winning streak to six games. Other notable movers included Missouri (up six spots to No. 15) and Wisconsin, Clemson, and Maryland (each up five spots).

Several teams experienced significant drops. Memphis tumbled eight spots to No. 22, Purdue fell six spots to No. 13, and Kansas dropped six spots to No. 23. Ten teams fell out of the rankings entirely. Louisville made a return to the poll at No. 25, while Creighton dropped out.

The Southeastern Conference boasts a nation-leading nine teams in the rankings, including three of the top four and five of the top 10. The Big 12 and Big Ten each have five ranked teams.
