**Madurai, February 25, 2025** – Three young men have been arrested in Madurai for robbing a man of ₹3,000 after assaulting him on the Tiruchi-Chennai highway. Police reported that R. Azharuddin, 37, was attacked early Sunday morning while briefly stopping his car near Gopuram Nagar junction.
According to police, while Azharuddin was away from his vehicle, three individuals on a motorbike confronted him. After a brief altercation, two of the suspects beat Azharuddin and demanded money. Unable to produce cash, Azharuddin was forced to provide his mobile payment QR code and password, resulting in a ₹3,000 transfer to another account.
The victim managed to note down the motorbike’s registration number, leading police to identify the suspects as M. Selvakumar, B. Manoj Kumar, and S. Kani, all 19 years old and from Othakadai. A fourth suspect, Muneeswaran (19), from Tirumogur, was also implicated in the crime.
Selvakumar and Manoj Kumar have been arrested, while the police are actively searching for Kani and Muneeswaran. The investigation is ongoing.
