HYDERABAD, INDIA (February 24, 2025) – Global biotechnology leader Amgen officially inaugurated its new $200 million technology and innovation center in Hyderabad today. The facility, expected to employ 2,000 people by the end of the year, will focus on boosting Amgen’s digital capabilities and leveraging the region’s growing talent pool. The company has already hired 300 employees and plans to add another 300 shortly.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy lauded the opening, calling it a collaboration between two global leaders. He emphasized the importance of this investment for Telangana’s goal of achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2030 and highlighted Hyderabad’s position as a burgeoning hub for global capability centers (GCCs). Reddy also encouraged Amgen to consider further investments and contribute to skill development initiatives in the state.
Amgen chairman Robert A. Bradway expressed the company’s long-standing desire to expand into India, praising Hyderabad’s innovative ecosystem. He confirmed a $200 million investment this year, with plans for additional future investment. Amgen, founded in 1980, currently employs 28,000 people worldwide.
Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu noted the rapid development of the facility, highlighting the collaborative efforts between Amgen and the state government. He described the opening as the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Hyderabad’s life sciences sector.
