**CHENNAI, February 24, 2025** – The Tambaram City Police have announced the arrest of seven individuals and the seizure of 22.5 kilograms of ganja in two separate drug busts.
In the first operation, Kannagi Nagar police apprehended four suspects – A. Nivetha, Salim Sharif, A. Pramila, and R. Karthik – near a local canal. Police seized 14 kg of ganja and allege the suspects confessed to obtaining the drugs in Odisha for sale in Chennai.
Separately, the Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) arrested three more suspects – V. Dhakshanamoorthy, N. Saiya Puhari, and S. Prakash Raj – near the Kamakodi Nagar bus stop. Authorities confiscated 8.5 kg of ganja and three mobile phones from this group. These individuals reportedly admitted to purchasing the ganja in Darjeeling for distribution within the city. All seven arrested individuals are currently in police custody.
