**THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, February 24, 2025** – The Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) Staff Union has called on the Union government to approve the appointment of 900 new employees for the institute’s recently inaugurated new block. The union highlights that while the recommendation was made to staff the 160-bed facility, it remains unapproved.
Further demands from the union include removing obstacles to providing free heart surgery for children, implementing seniority-based promotions, and granting staff a bonus. At their annual meeting, K.V. Manoj Kumar was elected president and M.T. Arun general secretary of the union.
