Mon Feb 24 07:39:14 UTC 2025: ## Rajasthan Assembly Proceedings Disrupted by Congress Protest

**Jaipur, Feb 24, 2025** – The Rajasthan Assembly witnessed repeated disruptions on Monday following a controversial remark by State Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Avinash Gehlot and the subsequent suspension of six Congress MLAs. The disruptions, marked by slogan-shouting and protests, led to multiple adjournments throughout the day.

The controversy stemmed from Gehlot’s comment on Friday, February 21st, during Question Hour, where he alluded to the naming of a scheme after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. This remark sparked outrage among Congress members, resulting in three adjournments on Friday and the suspension of six MLAs, including state Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasara.

Despite being asked to leave the Assembly, the suspended MLAs, Ramkesh Meena, Amin Kagzi, Jakir Hussain, Hakam Ali, and Sanjay Kumar, staged a sit-in protest, leading to further adjournments on Monday. The Assembly was adjourned multiple times, finally being suspended for the day. The Congress party is demanding an apology from Minister Gehlot and the revocation of the suspensions. The protests are expected to continue.
