**NEW DELHI, Feb 25, 2025** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a nationwide campaign to combat obesity, nominating ten high-profile individuals to spearhead the initiative. Following his Sunday address on “Mann Ki Baat” where he urged citizens to reduce edible oil consumption, Modi announced his nominations via X (formerly Twitter) on Monday.

The diverse group includes Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, businessman Anand Mahindra, actors Mohanlal and R Madhavan, singer Shreya Ghoshal, Bhojpuri singer-actor Nirahua, shooting champion Manu Bhaker, weightlifter Mirabai Chanu, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, and philanthropist and MP Sudha Murty.

The Prime Minister’s call to action encourages each nominee to further nominate ten individuals, aiming to create a widespread movement to promote healthier eating habits.
