**Bhagalpur, Bihar, February 24, 2025** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi today released the 19th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme, transferring ₹2,000 to the accounts of millions of farmers across India. The transfer, totaling approximately ₹22,000 crore, benefits around 9.8 crore farmers through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT). The event took place in Bhagalpur, Bihar, marking the sixth anniversary of the scheme.
PM Modi highlighted the scheme’s success, stating that approximately ₹3.5 lakh crore has been disbursed to farmers since its inception. He emphasized the scheme’s contribution to empowering farmers by improving their access to markets and reducing agricultural costs while increasing income. The PM congratulated farmers across the nation on this occasion.
The 18th installment was released in October 2024 from Washim, Maharashtra. The PM-Kisan scheme, a 100% centrally funded initiative, provides ₹6,000 annually in three equal installments to eligible landowning farmer families. Beneficiaries need to have an Aadhaar-linked bank account and furnish land ownership documents to ensure the scheme’s benefits reach the intended recipients and prevent fraudulent claims. Registration can be done online through the PM-Kisan portal, at Common Service Centers (CSCs), or through state government nodal officers.
The event in Bhagalpur was attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and other dignitaries. Union Agriculture Minister Chouhan reviewed the arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit on February 23rd. Besides the PM-Kisan disbursement, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several other projects during his visit.
