Mon Feb 24 00:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Memphis Tigers Overwhelm Florida Atlantic Owls in 84-65 Victory
**MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP)** — The No. 22 Memphis Tigers roared back from a slow start to defeat the Florida Atlantic Owls 84-65 Sunday afternoon, extending their winning streak to nine out of ten games. Dainja Dainja led the Tigers with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while PJ Haggerty also contributed 22 points to the dominant performance. Colby Rogers added 15 points for Memphis (22-5, 12-2 AAC).
Florida Atlantic (15-12, 8-6 AAC), who had been on a five-game winning streak earlier this month, was led by Tre Carroll’s 20 points and seven rebounds. However, the Owls struggled from the free-throw line, shooting a dismal 28% (5-for-18), and were unable to overcome two key Memphis runs in the first and second halves. A 14-0 run in the first half and a subsequent 12-0 spurt in the second sealed the Owls’ fate. Leland Walker added 14 points for FAU.
The victory was crucial for Memphis, who had suffered an overtime loss to Wichita State last week. This win propels them back into contention after a drop to No. 22 in the AP Top 25. The Tigers previously defeated Florida Atlantic 90-62 in their conference opener on January 2nd.
Both teams return to action Wednesday, with Florida Atlantic hosting North Texas and Memphis facing Rice at home.
