**Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, February 24, 2025** – The ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj has drawn over 10 million devotees, with millions more expected for the upcoming Maha Shivratri festival on February 26th. Authorities have implemented stringent security and crowd control measures to manage the massive influx of pilgrims.
Over one crore (10 million) devotees participated in the holy dip at the Triveni Sangam on Sunday, according to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Vaibhav Krishna. He also confirmed that 13 FIRs have been filed against 140 social media accounts for spreading misinformation. Krishna assured that comprehensive arrangements are in place for Maha Shivratri, including measures to prevent traffic congestion. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that a total of 620 million devotees have visited the Kumbh Mela thus far.
At Ayodhya Dham Railway Station, extensive crowd control measures, including a holding area and increased security personnel (over 350), have been implemented to prevent overcrowding on platforms. Deputy Superintendent of Police Yashwant Singh emphasized that devotees are only allowed onto platforms upon arrival of their trains. Regular announcements and barricades further aid in maintaining order and ensuring platform capacity is not exceeded. The authorities are working to ensure the smooth flow of devotees and a safe pilgrimage experience for all.
