Mon Feb 24 04:20:00 UTC 2025: **Sharks Fall to Flames in Close 3-2 Loss, Injury Concerns Emerge**

Calgary, AB – The San Jose Sharks suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat against the Calgary Flames on Sunday at the Scotiabank Saddledome, extending their losing streak to 11 out of 12 games. The deciding goal came from Joel Hanley at 13:28 in the third period during a 4-on-4 situation, marking his first goal of the season.

The Sharks’ frustration mounted when forward Ty Dellandrea suffered a concussion after being punched by Flames forward Connor Zary, a play that went uncalled by officials. This incident, along with a questionable penalty call against Dellandrea, led to coach Ryan Warsofsky expressing his bewilderment at the officiating.

Despite goals from Macklin Celebrini and Tyler Toffoli, and a strong performance from goalie Alexandar Georgiev (33 saves), the Sharks couldn’t overcome the Flames’ Dustin Wolf (26 saves). The Sharks also faced six penalty kills, including three in the third period, further hindering their comeback attempt. Adding to their woes, defenseman Timothy Liljegren left the game midway through the second period due to an undisclosed injury.

The loss marks the Sharks’ 19th one-goal defeat of the season. Despite showing improvement in practice following a nine-day break, the team struggled to maintain momentum throughout the game. The Sharks now embark on a seven-game road trip with a record of 15-36-7, currently positioned at the bottom of the NHL standings. Their next game is against the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.
