**VISAKHAPATNAM, Andhra Pradesh –** Lalit Bohra, a 1998 batch Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) officer, assumed charge as the new Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Waltair Division in Visakhapatnam on Monday. Bohra brings extensive experience in traffic management, commercial operations, and policy formulation to the role.
Prior to this appointment, Bohra served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, where he significantly contributed to the development of several key initiatives, including the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijali Yojana, PM-KUSUM, and the Wind Energy Policy. He also held the position of Director General of the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) and served on the boards of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd and Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd.
His railway experience includes roles as Chief Commercial Manager, Chief Passenger Transportation Manager, Chief Public Relations Officer, and Deputy General Manager (General). He also served as Chief General Manager at Container Corporation of India, overseeing the establishment of the Khatuwas Terminal, India’s largest dry port, and the implementation of double-stack container train operations.
Bohra holds a B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Bombay and an MBA in Finance from BITS Pilani. His interests include reading, badminton, tennis, and running.
