Mon Feb 24 12:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Ravindra Out of Champions Trophy Opener Due to Head Injury
**Karachi, Pakistan** – New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra will miss the ICC Champions Trophy opener against Pakistan due to a forehead injury. Ravindra sustained the injury during a recent tri-nation series match against Pakistan in Karachi, when he collided with the ball while attempting a catch. He received stitches and was kept under head injury assessment (HIA) protocols, ruling him out of the remainder of the series. While showing improvement, New Zealand coach Gary Stead confirmed Ravindra’s headache had subsided but he was still not fit enough to play. New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner confirmed Ravindra’s absence before the toss, with batter Will Young replacing him in the starting XI. Pakistan won the toss and elected to field.
