**Chennai, February 24, 2025** – Former West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi delivered the Dr. B. Ramamurthi Oration in Chennai on Sunday, focusing on the complexities of anger. His address, titled “The Wily Way of Anger,” explored the dual nature of anger, highlighting its potential for both destruction and constructive use.
Gandhi drew upon the Thirukkural, a classic Tamil text, and personal anecdotes, including the 1999 mistreatment of an Australian family in India, to illustrate his points. He emphasized the importance of controlling anger, citing the potential for deeply hurtful words unleashed by uncontrolled rage. He also contrasted the destructive power of uncontrolled anger with its potential for positive action when properly managed.
Dr. Krish Sridhar, Vice Chair of the Asian Australasian Society of Neurological Surgeons and President-Elect of the Neurological Society of India, also spoke at the event. The oration was held in Chennai on Sunday.
