The matchup will see Hawkeye senior Addison O’Grady go head-to-head against former Grandview High School (Aurora, CO) teammate Lauren Betts, now a star player for the Bruins.

O’Grady and Betts formed a dominant frontcourt for Grandview, winning a state championship together in 2018 and again in 2022. Their high school success included a near-miss championship in 2019 and a canceled title game in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pair’s reunion marks a significant moment, heightened by the Big Ten’s expansion which brought UCLA and USC into the conference.

Betts, who transferred to UCLA from Stanford, is averaging an impressive 19.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. She recently returned from a minor foot injury. O’Grady, meanwhile, is Iowa’s third-leading scorer, averaging 10.8 points per game. Both players are excited for the reunion, acknowledging the increased skill level developed since their high school days.

The Hawkeyes, coming off a narrow overtime loss to Ohio State, are hoping to replicate their upset victory over USC earlier this month.
