Mon Feb 24 04:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Flames Snap Skid, Edge Sharks 3-2 on Hanley’s Late Goal

**Calgary, AB** – Joel Hanley’s first goal of the season, a third-period snipe, propelled the Calgary Flames to a 3-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday night. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Flames and put them within one point of the Vancouver Canucks for the second Western Conference wild-card playoff spot.

Rookie goaltender Dustin Wolf earned his 20th win of the season, stopping 27 shots despite a four-game winless stretch prior. Nazem Kadri and Kevin Rooney also scored for Calgary. Kadri continues his impressive scoring streak, notching his 20th goal of the season for the third consecutive year since joining the Flames. Rooney’s goal, his first since December 10th, gave Calgary a temporary lead.

Macklin Celebrini and Tyler Toffoli scored for the Sharks, who remain winless in their last five games and have lost six straight on the road. Celebrini’s goal extended his lead in rookie scoring, and Toffoli’s 21st goal tied the game in the third. Sharks goaltender Alexander Georgiev made 33 saves but suffered his sixth consecutive loss, his 12th in his last 13 starts.

The game remained tight until Hanley’s game-winner, assisted by Jonathan Huberdeau, at 13:26 of the third period. The goal ended a 31-game drought for the defenseman.

The Sharks travel to Winnipeg on Monday, while the Flames face the Washington Capitals on Tuesday.
