Mon Feb 24 14:53:24 UTC 2025: ## Mysuru Officials Inspect K.R. Hospital Amidst High Patient Volume

**Mysuru, Karnataka, February 24, 2025** – Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy and the newly appointed CEO of Mysuru Zilla Panchayat, Ukkesh Kumar S., conducted an inspection of K.R. Hospital in Mysuru on Monday. The visit, described as routine by hospital authorities, included a review of in-patient and out-patient facilities. They were accompanied by MMCRI Dean and Director K.R. Dakshayani and other hospital doctors.

The inspection focused on treatment facilities, summer preparedness, and manpower requirements, a key concern highlighted by Dr. Dakshayani. The Deputy Commissioner advised the establishment of a coordination committee to improve management across health and medical education departments.

K.R. Hospital, attached to MMCRI and managed by the Department of Medical Education, handles a significant patient load. Sources indicate over nine lakh out-patients and six lakh in-patients annually, potentially the highest for a state-run hospital in Karnataka. Including associated hospitals like Cheluvamba and PKKTB, the MMCRI handles nearly 13.25 lakh patients. While the opening of a new district hospital has eased the burden, daily out-patient numbers still frequently exceed 2,500. The hospital system has a combined bed capacity exceeding 2000 beds.

The officials also reviewed facilities established under the National Health Mission and visited the district hospital. The recent full operation of the Trauma Care Center and Super-speciality Hospital, both attached to MMCRI, has alleviated some pressure on K.R. Hospital by transferring approximately 15 departments and about 40% of its patient load.
