**Prayagraj, India** – Authorities in Prayagraj are tackling misinformation spread online while managing the massive crowds attending the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Vaibhav Krishna confirmed that 13 FIRs have been filed against 140 social media accounts for disseminating misleading content. Despite this, the Kumbh Mela continues to attract millions. Over 8.77 million devotees have already taken a holy dip, with officials expecting a surge for Maha Shivratri on February 26th, 2025. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reported a staggering 620 million devotees visited the Mela overall.
