Sun Feb 23 16:52:50 UTC 2025: ## BJP Factional Feud Reignites in Karnataka

**Bengaluru, February 23, 2025:** A bitter feud within the Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has erupted once again. The conflict, involving rebel leader Basanagouda R. Patil Yatnal and his supporters, and the party’s state president B.Y. Vijayendra, had briefly subsided after Yatnal received a show-cause notice. However, hostilities have resumed with renewed vigor.

Kumar Bangarappa, a prominent member of Yatnal’s faction, publicly accused Vijayendra of colluding with Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar of the Congress party. This attack prompted a swift counter-response from Vijayendra’s camp. MP Renukacharya accused the rebels of having a secret pact with the Congress, specifically alleging that Yatnal was in league with a senior Congress Minister. Renukacharya criticized the rebels for their public attacks on the party leadership, highlighting inconsistencies in their statements, particularly regarding Yatnal’s previous dismissal of the show-cause notice as “fake.” He asserted Vijayendra’s position as state president was secure and warned the rebels to cease their attacks. The ongoing infighting threatens to further destabilize the BJP’s position in Karnataka.
