**New Delhi, February 24, 2025** – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced that 12,000 contractual workers of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will be made permanent employees. This announcement was made by AAP leader Atishi on Sunday, ahead of a February 25th MCD House meeting where the decision is expected to be formalized.
Atishi stated that this move represents the largest single regularization of MCD employees in history, adding to the 4,500 workers already made permanent during the past two years. She emphasized the AAP’s commitment to securing the jobs of temporary workers.
However, the MCD’s Leader of Opposition, Raja Iqbal Singh, cast doubt on the announcement’s feasibility. Singh claims that necessary approvals from the Municipal Commissioner and the Finance Department have not yet been obtained, characterizing the AAP’s announcement as a “farce.” The upcoming House meeting will determine whether the regularization plan can proceed as planned.
