Mon Feb 24 08:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Modi and Nitish Showcase NDA Unity in Bihar Ahead of Elections

PATNA, BIHAR – Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bihar is being seen as a significant launchpad for the National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) campaign for the upcoming state assembly elections. The visit, marked by a joint roadshow with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, underscored the alliance’s unity. All NDA constituent party leaders were present, solidifying the image of a cohesive front.

Kumar used the opportunity to praise Modi’s development vision and sharply criticize opposition leader Lalu Prasad Yadav. He explicitly appealed for continued support for the NDA government, highlighting the collaborative efforts between the state and the central government.

A key highlight of the event was the disbursement of the 19th installment of the Kisan Samman Nidhi, totaling over ₹22,000 crore, benefiting over 76,000 farmers in Bihar alone. Kumar emphasized the state’s progress in agriculture, citing the implementation of four agricultural roadmaps and self-sufficiency in fish production.

Kumar further detailed the central government’s contributions to Bihar’s development, including substantial budgetary allocations for industry, health, agriculture, and tourism. He also mentioned upcoming projects such as the establishment of a Makhana board, a greenfield airport, and the expansion of Patna IIT.

The Chief Minister contrasted the current state of Bihar with its past, emphasizing improved law and order, infrastructure development, and access to education and healthcare. He highlighted the significant increase in the state budget from ₹28,000 crore in 2005 to ₹3 lakh crore currently. Kumar attributed this progress to the continuous work of the state government and the strong support received from Prime Minister Modi. The Prime Minister’s visit, he asserted, signaled continued commitment to Bihar’s development.
