**Bhagalpur, Bihar:** Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bihar on Monday for a day-long tour. He landed at Purnea airport and then proceeded to Bhagalpur by helicopter. There, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar welcomed him with a garland of makhana (fox nuts), a local delicacy.
The highlight of the visit was the release of the 19th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, transferring approximately ₹22,000 crore to farmers’ accounts nationwide. Modi also inaugurated several development projects. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, senior BJP leaders from Bihar, and leaders from NDA ally Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), including Jitan Ram Manjhi, were present at the event.
In his address, PM Modi highlighted the significance of the occasion, coinciding with preparations for Maha Shivratri. He emphasized the NDA government’s commitment to farmer welfare, citing initiatives like PM Fasal Bima Yojana which has disbursed nearly ₹1.75 lakh crore in claims. He further announced plans to promote Bihar’s makhana (fox nuts) globally, stating that a Makhana board will be established as announced in the recent budget.
Modi also spoke about his vision for a developed India, emphasizing the four pillars of progress: the poor, farmers, women, and youth. He criticized past governments for neglecting farmers’ needs and contrasted this with the NDA’s efforts to provide better seeds, fertilizers, irrigation, and livestock protection. He reiterated his dream of seeing Indian agricultural products in every kitchen across the globe and mentioned the launch of the ‘PM Dhan Dhan Yojana’ to boost crop production in low-yielding districts.
The Prime Minister also lauded the ongoing Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, highlighting its significance as a symbol of India’s unity and faith, and criticized those who opposed it, linking this opposition to the disrespect shown to the Ram Temple. He concluded by asserting the NDA government’s dedication to preserving India’s heritage and building a prosperous future.
