Sun Feb 23 10:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Pi Network Opens its Doors: Mainnet Launch Connects Pioneers to the Wider Crypto World

**SAN FRANCISCO, CA** – Pi Network, the cryptocurrency project boasting millions of “Pioneers,” has officially launched its Open Network, marking a major milestone in its journey. This launch removes the previous firewall, enabling external connectivity and integrating Pi with the broader blockchain ecosystem.

For the first time, Pioneers can now use their Pi cryptocurrency for transactions beyond the Pi Network ecosystem, interacting with external networks and systems. This includes access to centralized exchanges (CEXs) and on-ramps for acquiring Pi. However, the network stresses caution, urging users to only engage with businesses that have completed the Know Your Business (KYB) verification process. A list of KYB-verified businesses is available on the Pi Network website.

To ensure security and regulatory compliance, both Pioneers and businesses will need to undergo KYC (Know Your Customer) and KYB verification respectively to fully participate in Mainnet activities. This applies to businesses providing crucial infrastructure such as exchanges, bridges, and wallet solutions. Only KYB-verified businesses are eligible to create Mainnet Pi wallets.

The Open Network also includes a newly released node update (0.5.1) and an upcoming “Open Network Challenge” within the Pi mining app. This challenge will guide users through the new features and offer rewards for participation.

Pi Network co-founder Chengdiao Fan highlighted the significance of this launch, emphasizing the project’s commitment to building an inclusive and utility-driven cryptocurrency. The company warns against interacting with unverified businesses, emphasizing the risk of scams and fraud. They encourage Pioneers to utilize the provided KYB verification list to safeguard their Pi holdings. The launch of the Open Network represents a crucial step in Pi Network’s ambition to become a widely adopted and secure cryptocurrency.
