Sun Feb 23 09:32:59 UTC 2025: ## Modi’s Mann Ki Baat: Women to Take Over Social Media, Fight Against Obesity Urged

**New Delhi, February 23, 2025** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Sunday that he will cede control of his social media accounts to women achievers from various fields to celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8th. This follows a similar gesture in 2020. Modi lauded the increasing participation of women in diverse sectors, stating, “Let us celebrate and respect the indomitable spirit of women.”

The Prime Minister also launched a national campaign to combat obesity, citing alarming statistics: one in eight people in India are obese, with a fourfold increase in childhood obesity. He urged citizens to reduce their oil consumption by 10%, framing it not just as a personal choice, but a responsibility towards family health. Modi challenged 10 individuals to adopt this reduction and pass the challenge on to 10 more, creating a cascading effect.

The initiative received endorsements from Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra and boxing champion Nikhat Zareen, who shared personal anecdotes and encouraged healthy lifestyles. Cardiac surgeon Dr. Devi Shetty highlighted the serious medical implications of obesity, emphasizing the link between excessive carbohydrate and oil consumption and health problems.

Furthermore, Modi encouraged citizens to participate in National Science Day by visiting research facilities and planetariums. He also offered words of encouragement to students preparing for board exams.
