**Hyderabad, Telangana –** At least eight workers, including four from Jharkhand, are trapped after a tunnel collapse at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project in Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district. The incident occurred on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has appealed to his Telangana counterpart, A. Revanth Reddy, for immediate and comprehensive rescue efforts. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Soren requested all possible assistance to save the trapped workers, many of whom hail from Gumla district in Jharkhand.

The Jharkhand government is actively coordinating with Telangana authorities and stands ready to provide any necessary support. The state’s Labour Department is gathering information about the families of the trapped workers, and the State Migrant Control Room is maintaining constant communication with Telangana officials.

Rescue operations are currently underway.
