Sun Feb 23 09:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Former Indian Spinner Harbhajan Singh Criticizes Pakistan Cricket Team’s Lack of Unity

**KARACHI** – Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed his surprise at the decline of Pakistan cricket, stating that the current team lacks the unity and cohesion of past teams. Speaking on a panel discussion alongside former Pakistan cricketers Mohammad Yousuf and Shahid Afridi, Singh noted a stark difference between the current Pakistan team and the teams he faced in 2011-12.

“I haven’t seen a Pakistan team like this in years,” Singh said. “Previously, there was always a fear of playing against them because they had star players, incredible bowling, and a strong sense of unity. Now, while there are match-winners, the team lacks cohesion. They can win on their day, but you need seven or eight such players to win a championship, and I don’t see that in this team.” Afridi echoed Singh’s sentiments, stating that the current team couldn’t compare to the strong Pakistan teams of the 90s and lacked consistent match-winners.

This assessment comes after a string of matches between India and Pakistan since the 2017 Champions Trophy final. India has won five out of six encounters, with one ending in a no-result.

Separately, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged a complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) after the Indian national anthem was mistakenly played before an England-Australia match. The PCB questioned why the ICC allowed this to happen, especially considering India does not currently play matches in Pakistan. They have reportedly sent a letter to the ICC demanding an explanation.

In a positive development ahead of the upcoming India-Pakistan match, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the release of 22 fishermen previously imprisoned in Karachi. Naqvi expressed hope for an exciting match between the two rivals.
