**New Delhi, February 23, 2025** – Delhi’s newly appointed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has pledged to implement a ₹2,500 monthly payment scheme for women by March 8th. However, she accused the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of leaving the public exchequer empty.
Addressing a press conference following a meeting with BJP MLAs, CM Gupta stated that a review of the city’s finances revealed a depleted treasury. Despite this, she assured the public that the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna, promising ₹2,500 per month to eligible women, will proceed with detailed planning.
The announcement comes ahead of the first session of the 8th Delhi Assembly, scheduled for Monday. State BJP president Virendra Sachdeva reiterated the party’s commitment to developing Delhi and addressing its citizens’ concerns.
AAP responded critically, with Atishi (presumably an AAP representative) criticizing CM Gupta for not immediately announcing financial assistance to women. The news follows earlier reports of the Delhi Cabinet’s decision to implement the Ayushman Bharat healthcare scheme and table reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).
