**Madurai, February 23, 2025** – Two separate road accidents in Madurai district resulted in the deaths of an eight-year-old girl and a 58-year-old tourist on Friday and Saturday.
In the first incident, eight-year-old S. Sanasri was killed when a TNSTC bus collided with the motorbike she was riding on with her mother and younger sister on Pallapatti-Tirumangalam Road in Sholavandan. Sanasri, a fourth-grader, sustained fatal head injuries and died despite being rushed to a local hospital. The bus driver, S. Jayaseelan (39), has been charged by Sholavandan police.
The second accident occurred on the Dindigul-Madurai highway near Vadugapatti. S. Machindra Patel (58), a tourist from Maharashtra, was struck and killed by a speeding car while crossing the road to relieve himself. Patel was part of a tour group returning home after visiting various temples across the country. He was declared dead on arrival at Vadipatti Government Hospital. Vadipatti police are currently investigating the incident.
