**Berlin** – Preliminary results from the first ARD projection show a significant lead for the CDU/CSU bloc in the German federal election, with 29% of the vote. The AfD is a strong second, securing 19.6% of the vote. The SPD trails in third place with 16%, followed by the Greens (13.3%), the Left Party (8.6%), the FDP (4.9%), and the BSW (4.7%). Other parties garnered a combined 3.9%. CDU leader Friedrich Merz is expected to address the results shortly.
