HYDERABAD, February 23, 2025 – Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has directed energy department officials to expedite the completion of pending works at the Bhadradri Thermal Power Station (BTPS). During a Sunday review meeting, Vikramarka emphasized the need for the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) to finalize electrical, civil, and mechanical works as per the agreement’s timeline.

The Deputy CM specifically addressed the repair of BTPS Unit-I’s generator transformer, damaged by motor failure. Officials reported that tenders for repairs are underway, and plans are in place to procure a spare transformer. Vikramarka instructed officials to ensure sufficient backup equipment to prevent power generation disruptions.

To proactively address technical issues and prevent future outages, a three-member committee, headed by the TS Genco director, will be formed. This committee will identify and propose solutions to technical problems, expediting the approval process for repairs.

The review also covered pending BHEL works, plant operations, coal reserves, and the progress of railway works for coal transportation from Singareni mines to BTPS. Vikramarka stressed the importance of continuous monitoring to maintain the quality of BHEL’s work.
