Sun Feb 23 09:22:40 UTC 2025: ## AAP Demands Action on BJP’s Broken Promise of ₹2500 Monthly Allowance for Women
**New Delhi, February 22, 2025** – Atishi, a leader from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Delhi Chief Minister, has accused the BJP of reneging on its election promise to provide a monthly allowance of ₹2500 to women in Delhi. In a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Atishi urged a meeting on February 23rd to discuss the implementation of the scheme.
Atishi highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated assurances during the election campaign, including a specific promise that the scheme would be approved in the BJP government’s first cabinet meeting. This meeting took place on February 20th, but the scheme remains unapproved.
“The women of Delhi trusted Modi Ji’s guarantee, and now they feel deceived,” Atishi wrote in her letter, calling the promise a “jumla” (empty slogan). She also pointed out that BJP President JP Nadda echoed the same promise. Modi had further pledged that the funds would be transferred by March 8th.
Atishi previously held a press conference where she sharply criticized the BJP for failing to deliver on its promise, directly questioning Chief Minister Gupta’s commitment to fulfilling Modi’s guarantee. The AAP legislative delegation is seeking a meeting to press for concrete action and ensure the promised financial assistance is provided to Delhi’s women. The AAP leader is demanding an explanation from the Chief Minister on whether the March 8th deadline will also be missed.
