NEW DELHI (ANI) – Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi’s new Chief Minister on Sunday, marking a historic return to power for the BJP after a 27-year absence. She began her tenure by seeking blessings from Jain Saint Pujya Shri Charukirti Panditacharyavarya Bhadarak Mahaswamy ji.
The Delhi Assembly’s first session commences tomorrow, February 24th. The BJP will hold a meeting today to prepare for the session. The first order of business will be the election of the Assembly Speaker, with BJP MLA Vijender Gupta nominated by CM Gupta and seconded by MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa. Arvinder Singh Lovely has been appointed pro-tem speaker by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena. The oath-taking ceremony for newly elected MLAs will be held at 11:00 AM, followed by the Speaker’s election at 2:00 PM.
The Lieutenant Governor will address the Assembly on February 25th, with the CAG reports to be tabled afterward. Discussion on the motion of thanks to the LG’s address will take place on February 26th, followed by the election of the Deputy Speaker.
