**New Delhi, February 23, 2025** – Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi’s new Chief Minister on Sunday, marking a historic return to power for the BJP after a 27-year absence. Following the swearing-in ceremony, Gupta sought blessings from Jain Saint Pujya Shri Charukirti Panditacharyavarya Bhadarak Mahaswamy ji.
The Delhi Assembly’s first session commences tomorrow, February 24th. Ahead of the session, the BJP is holding a meeting today to strategize. The session’s agenda includes the election of a new speaker, with BJP MLA Vijender Gupta proposed for the position. Arvinder Singh Lovely has been appointed as pro-tem speaker by the Lieutenant Governor, Vinai Kumar Saxena. The oath-taking ceremony for newly elected MLAs is scheduled for 11:00 AM on February 24th, followed by the speaker’s election at 2:00 PM.
The Lieutenant Governor will address the assembly on February 25th, and the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports will be tabled. The election of the Deputy Speaker is planned for February 26th. Atishi, of the AAP, has been named the Leader of the Opposition.
