Sun Feb 23 02:26:25 UTC 2025: ## Army Mobilized After Tunnel Collapse Traps Workers Near Srisailam Dam
**Hyderabad, Telangana – February 23, 2025** – A portion of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel near Domalapenta in Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district collapsed, trapping at least eight workers. The Indian Army’s Engineer Task Force (ETF) has been deployed to assist in the ongoing rescue operation, joining forces with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).
Responding to a request from the Telangana Chief Secretary, the ETF arrived with specialized engineering teams, medical personnel, ambulances, high-capacity pumps, and heavy machinery. An additional Engineer Regiment from Secunderabad is on standby with further equipment, including excavators. The ETF Commander is coordinating rescue efforts with local civil authorities.
The situation is being closely monitored by the Telangana & Andhra Sub Area (TASA) and the Infantry Division HQ. The rescue operation is underway, with teams from Singareni Collieries also participating in the inspection of the collapsed tunnel section.
