**Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, February 23, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh is poised to launch its first sea-based cruise tourism venture, “Vizag Cruiser,” within the next one to two months. The 80-seater MV Sai Vaishnavi, currently moored at Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour, will offer various cruise packages within 10 nautical miles of the coast.
The vessel, owned by Shore & Ship Resorts Private Limited, boasts a double-deck design with air-conditioned wardrooms suitable for a range of events. Cruise packages range from short, hour-long morning coffee and breakfast cruises (₹1,500 per person) to a full-day Mariner’s Adventure including activities like scuba diving and film shoots (starting at ₹2 lakh excluding taxes). Other options include midday lunch cruises, sunset cruises, and evening dinner cruises with live music.
The project’s success hinges on securing a dedicated jetty for the vessel. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is negotiating with the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) for a jetty adjacent to the Marine Police Station, offering convenient access from Beach Road. While the VPA expresses support, the final decision awaits the submission of a formal proposal.
Vessel owner Surender Singh Gill clarified that the MV Sai Vaishnavi is a day cruise operator, offering shorter excursions and suspending services during inclement weather. Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department Special Chief Secretary Ajay Jain confirmed the imminent launch of cruise services in Visakhapatnam. The project promises to significantly boost tourism in the region.
