Fri Feb 21 20:18:33 UTC 2025: ## Delhi’s New BJP Government Takes Action on Key Issues
**New Delhi** – Delhi’s newly appointed Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has wasted no time in addressing key issues facing the city. Following her swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, her first cabinet meeting approved the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, previously stalled. The scheme will soon be available to Delhi residents.
The government’s focus now shifts to infrastructure improvements. CM Gupta has convened meetings with the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Delhi Jal Board. The PWD will immediately develop a plan to repair Delhi’s roads, a major issue during the recent election campaign. They will also be responsible for cleaning all drains before the monsoon season. The Jal Board will prioritize cleaning the Yamuna River and addressing drinking water shortages.
CM Gupta has also taken swift action against what she termed administrative inefficiencies. She has terminated the services of personal staff employed by the previous Chief Minister and ministers. Additionally, officials and employees deployed to other departments or corporations under the previous administration have been instructed to return to their original postings.
The government plans to present 14 CAG reports, previously withheld by the previous administration, during the first session of the Delhi Assembly, scheduled for February 24th, 25th, and 27th. The new government also plans to implement its election promises, including subsidized gas cylinders for low-income women, with a draft plan already prepared.
Meanwhile, the BJP has linked US President Donald Trump’s comments on USAID funding to claims made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Lok Sabha elections about foreign powers trying to prevent him from coming to power. The Congress has demanded a white paper on USAID funding in India.
The Delhi Assembly’s pro tem speaker will be Arvinder Singh Lovely. BJP MLA Vijendra Gupta confirmed this, stating that the Assembly agenda will be released later in the day. Gupta added that the government is moving forward step-by-step, in line with the enthusiasm of Delhi’s citizens. Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh expressed gratitude for his appointment and vowed to focus on the development of his constituency. CM Gupta also addressed criticism from the previous administration, highlighting the immediate implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme as a key achievement of the new government.
