Sat Feb 22 07:58:44 UTC 2025: ## Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar Starrer “Mere Husband Ki Biwi” Opens to Disappointing Box Office Numbers

**Mumbai, February 22:** The romantic comedy “Mere Husband Ki Biwi,” starring Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, and Rakul Preet Singh, had a sluggish start at the Indian box office, raking in only ₹1.5 crore (nett) on its opening day. This represents a significant underperformance for the film, which had a 12.17% overall occupancy on Friday.

Morning shows saw the lowest footfall at 8.64%, while afternoon and evening shows saw slightly better numbers at 13.75% and 14.12%, respectively. Industry analysts attribute the weak opening to stiff competition from Vicky Kaushal’s successful film “Chhaava,” which continues to perform strongly.

The film, directed by Mudassar Aziz, follows the comedic misadventures of Ankur Chadha (Arjun Kapoor) and his complicated relationship with his ex-wife (Bhumi Pednekar) and new love interest (Rakul Preet Singh). While early reviews praise the performances of the lead actors, critics have pointed to a lack of humor and uneven direction as potential reasons for the film’s underwhelming performance. One review in the Hindustan Times described the film as “strictly average,” noting that while the cast tries hard, the film falls short of its comedic potential.

“Mere Husband Ki Biwi,” produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Deepshikha Deshmukh, was released on February 21st. Whether the film can pick up momentum in the coming days remains to be seen.
