**Jerusalem, February 22, 2025** – Following an initial mix-up that sparked outrage, Palestinian militants have returned the remains of Shiri Bibas, an Israeli mother killed along with her two sons during the recent conflict, to Israeli authorities. Hamas initially delivered the wrong body, mistakenly providing the remains of an unidentified Palestinian woman instead.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the initial action as a “cruel and malicious violation” of the ceasefire and vowed retaliation. However, despite rising tensions, a prisoner exchange between Israel and Hamas, part of the ongoing ceasefire agreement, proceeded as planned on Saturday.
The correct remains were handed over to the Red Cross late Friday and subsequently identified early Saturday. This resolution comes amidst continuing high tensions in the region.
