**New Delhi, February 22, 2025** – Delhi’s newly formed BJP government, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has launched a comprehensive action plan to address the city’s infrastructure challenges, focusing on water supply, air quality, and healthcare. Just one day after assuming office, the government held meetings with officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) to assess the condition of roads and water supply.
Chief Minister Gupta reported that many roads are potholed, blaming the previous AAP government for neglecting infrastructure maintenance. The BJP cited poor road conditions, water shortages, and inadequate sanitation as key issues during the recent election campaign.
The government also plans to expedite the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, promising its benefits will soon be available to Delhi residents. Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh has ordered a comprehensive review of mohalla clinics, revealing that many lack essential facilities like doctors and medicine. Some clinics operate on rented land, leading the minister to announce plans to convert those built on government land into “Ayushman Aarogya Mandir.” He committed to visible improvements within 100 days.
Further, the government aims to improve essential services, including water and sewage management, to ensure clean drinking water and air for all Delhiites. The BJP also pledged to fulfill its election promise of subsidised cooking gas cylinders, aiming for a price of ₹500 per cylinder and free cylinders for poor women on Holi and Diwali. While the detailed scheme is still under development, officials confirmed its imminent implementation.
Minister Singh assured the continuation of the free bus service for women, addressing concerns circulating on social media. The government also plans to sign an MoU with the central government for the full-scale implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. The new ministers have begun working immediately, holding meetings and inspecting ongoing projects to deliver on their promises of improved service delivery and enhanced basic amenities. Chief Minister Gupta emphasized the previous governments’ failures to address these crucial issues.
