**NAGARKURNOOL, TELANGANA –** At least 30 workers are feared trapped following a tunnel collapse at the under-construction Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) in Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district. The incident occurred Saturday at the 14th kilometer point of the tunnel behind the Srisailam dam near Domalapenta, where a three-meter section of the tunnel roof caved in.
Police report that the construction firm has dispatched a team to assess the situation and determine the extent of the damage and the number of casualties. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has expressed deep concern and dispatched officials, including the District Collector, SP, Fire Department, and Irrigation Department personnel, to the site via helicopter to oversee rescue efforts and provide immediate relief. The Chief Minister’s office confirmed the urgent response and commitment to assisting those affected. The rescue operation is currently underway.
