**New Delhi, February 22** – Delhi’s newly sworn-in Chief Minister Rekha Gupta wasted no time in addressing key issues facing the national capital. Following her oath-taking ceremony on Thursday, Gupta held a series of high-level meetings focusing on women’s empowerment, infrastructure improvements, and clean water access.
A key priority for Gupta is the implementation of the “Mahila Samriddhi Yojana,” a flagship scheme promising eligible women ₹2500 per month. She met with officials from the Women and Child Welfare Department on Friday to discuss the rollout, reiterating her commitment to disbursing the first installment by March 8th, International Women’s Day. The scheme was a key election promise by the BJP.
Gupta’s proactive approach also extended to infrastructure. She directed Public Works Department (PWD) officials to prioritize pothole repairs across Delhi, aiming for a city-wide improvement in road conditions. Further meetings with the Delhi Jal Board ensured focus on providing clean drinking water to all citizens. Meetings with health officials were also conducted.
In addition to her official engagements, Gupta met with President and Vice-President of India, and was greeted by numerous supporters at her residence. She also participated in a Yamuna river aarti with her cabinet, reaffirming her commitment to cleaning the river.
Gupta had previously stated her determination to make swift progress on the “Vikasit Delhi Mission,” pledging to fulfill all promises made to Delhi’s residents. The Chief Minister and her six ministers were sworn in at Ramlila Maidan on Thursday.
