Sat Feb 22 08:22:31 UTC 2025: ## Delhi’s New CM Gupta Meets Modi, Unveils Reform Plans

**New Delhi:** Delhi’s newly sworn-in Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today to discuss the “Mahila Samman Yojana” (Women Respect Scheme). This meeting comes after a whirlwind week for Gupta, who has already initiated significant changes within the Delhi administration.

Immediately after assuming office on February 20th, Gupta dismissed the personal staff of former CM Atishi and her ministers. Furthermore, officials and employees transferred by the previous Atishi government have been ordered to return to their original departments. A cabinet meeting focusing on improving infrastructure, including roads, water supply, and Mohalla Clinics, was held on February 21st. Gupta also met with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Amongst her first actions, Gupta’s cabinet approved the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi. The Delhi Assembly session is scheduled for February 24th-27th, where the Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be elected and new MLAs will be sworn in. Arvinder Singh Lovely will serve as pro tem Speaker. The session will also see the presentation of 14 pending CAG reports, which reportedly indicate a loss of ₹2026 crore to Delhi due to irregularities in the AAP government’s liquor policy.

Gupta responded to criticism from the Congress and AAP, stating that her government is prioritizing Delhi’s needs and will work towards rectifying past issues. She further suggested that the opposition’s criticism stems from concerns about their own records being exposed by the upcoming CAG reports.

Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh announced plans to improve existing Mohalla Clinics and incorporate Ayurvedic facilities. He also indicated that investigations will be launched into alleged irregularities by the previous government. The allocation of portfolios amongst ministers was completed within four hours of Gupta’s swearing-in ceremony. Significant portfolios, including Finance, have been retained by the Chief Minister.
