**Lucknow, [Date of Publication]** – The Uttar Pradesh government unveiled ambitious plans Thursday to bolster its science and technology infrastructure, allocating ₹50 crore for the development of four new science parks, two planetariums, and the renovation of existing facilities.

Finance Minister Suresh Khanna announced the budget allocation, detailing plans for a ₹25 crore science city in Agra, and a combined science city and planetarium in Varanasi costing ₹5 crore. An additional ₹20 crore will fund equipment and infrastructure for all projects.

The initiative aims to foster innovation and research within the state. Principal Secretary (Science and Technology) Pandhari Singh confirmed that work on the Agra science city is set to commence later this year, with a Gorakhpur science park, near its existing planetarium, also beginning construction soon. Land has been identified in Varanasi, Bareilly, and Banda for additional science parks.

According to Sheeldhar Yadav, Special Secretary and Director (Science and Technology), the Agra science city, encompassing approximately two acres near Panchkuian, will include a science park and planetarium, with the first phase expected to be completed within a year. Varanasi’s planetarium is scheduled for completion by 2026. Renovations are also underway at Gorakhpur’s existing planetarium. The department is actively working with the Bareilly and Banda Development Authorities to secure land for their respective science parks.

The science parks will feature interactive exhibits on various scientific principles, benefiting students of science, mathematics, and astronomy. The government is also exploring additional sites for future planetariums and science parks.

The announcement comes alongside a larger investment in education, including ₹2,000 crore for primary and upper primary school infrastructure, the upgrading of 680 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, and the development of 57 new Chief Minister Model Composite Schools. Significant funding is also allocated to various education schemes, including Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, and the creation of a digital library. The state also plans to invest in vocational training and skill development, including the construction of a sports university in Meerut and an international cricket stadium in Varanasi.
