**Seoul, South Korea** – South Korea is set to modernize its immigration process with the introduction of a mandatory e-Arrival Card, effective February 24, 2025. This digital system will replace traditional paper arrival cards, streamlining entry for international travelers and enhancing efficiency at immigration checkpoints.
Most foreign nationals visiting South Korea will be required to complete the online form at least three days before arrival. The e-Arrival Card will be valid for 72 hours and can cover up to nine travelers. Exceptions will be made for South Korean residents, K-ETA holders, and airline crew.
A transitional period will allow for the use of paper forms until the end of 2025, providing visitors with a choice during the adjustment phase. The online application process is free and requires uploading a passport scan and providing essential travel information. Unlike visa applications, the e-Arrival Card doesn’t require approval and is available for immediate download after submission.
Authorities emphasize that travelers need not print the e-Arrival Card; the digital version will suffice. Information can also be updated online if travel details change before arrival. This initiative aims to improve border control efficiency while providing a more convenient experience for visitors. Travelers are urged to familiarize themselves with the new system and complete the e-Arrival Card application before their trip to avoid delays at immigration.
