**New Delhi, February 20, 2025** – Sonia Gandhi, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP, was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi on Thursday evening due to a stomach ailment. Hospital officials confirmed the admission, stating that her condition is stable and she is expected to be discharged on Friday. A team of doctors is monitoring her.

While the hospital has downplayed the severity of her condition, the admission follows a period of political activity for Ms. Gandhi, including a recent appearance in the Rajya Sabha on February 13th and the January 15th inauguration of the Congress party’s new headquarters. Ms. Gandhi, who turned 78 in December 2024, missed the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Belgaum, Karnataka in December 2024 due to illness. She was also briefly hospitalized in September 2024 due to a mild fever.

Dr. Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Management Board, stated that Ms. Gandhi is under the care of Dr. Samir Saran and that her discharge is anticipated by Friday morning. The news of her hospitalization comes as the country is observing the budget session of Parliament.
