Police say CCTV footage shows the five employees assaulting the students between 11 AM and 12:20 PM on Monday. The staff allegedly verbally abused and physically attacked the students for being slow to vacate their rooms. A court has remanded the five newly arrested individuals into judicial custody for 14 days, rejecting their bail petitions.
The arrests follow the earlier apprehension of five other KIIT employees, who were later released on bail, a decision that drew significant criticism. Police have registered separate cases for the student’s suicide and the subsequent assault, with an engineering student also arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide.
