**MUZAFFARNAGAR, UTTAR PRADESH –** A frantic search for a bride who vanished hours before her wedding ended Wednesday morning with her safe recovery in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The incident unfolded Tuesday evening in Muzaffarnagar when Sushmana Sharma, the bride-to-be, left home to visit a beauty salon and never returned.
Her family subsequently filed an abduction report with police. Adding to the confusion, the groom’s family simultaneously spread a false report on social media claiming Sushmana had died of a heart attack, causing widespread sympathy and raising suspicion.
The conflicting narratives prompted a thorough investigation by police, who used CCTV footage to track Sharma’s movements. A massive manhunt ensued, involving two police teams. Sharma was located in Gwalior around 8 am Wednesday.
While police haven’t released full details, sources indicate Sharma eloped with a female friend because she didn’t want to marry Bharat Bhushan. An investigation is underway into the groom’s family’s false social media post announcing her death. Circle Officer Rupali Roy Chowdhary confirmed the bride’s safe recovery and the ongoing investigation into the misleading death report.
